Will a free weight loss program work?

People want to lose weight. But they want to do it with the least effort or sacrifice. They do not want to exercise. They do not want to diet, and most of all, they do not want to pay for losing weight. They may splurge a cool $100 on dinner at a fashionable place, but when it comes to losing weight, they start counting pennies.

Look, I have nothing against these kind of programs or people who go for them. In fact, I lost a lot of weight that way. But free weight loss programs have their limitations. It is important to understand these inherent limitations and then take a call on what you want to do – go for a paid one or settle for a free weight loss program.

They are offered as free advice. They are the experiences of people who have successfully lost weight. So, there is a lot of meat in these programs. But, they may not be scientifically sound. A free weight loss program need not be healthy. It may wreck havoc on your metabolism and suggest methods that may ultimately do you more harm than good. Like my friend Lillianne who lost 28 pounds with a free program, but ended up with a severe hemoglobin deficiency. It took her months to realize that her constant feelings of tiredness and giddiness was due to the lack of iron!

Free weight loss programs may not have a proper structure. Since they are programs prepared and packaged by individuals, these programs may simply be a collection of random thoughts. If you want to lose weight seriously, a disciplined approach may help you more.

Many lay down diet and exercise specifications. These may or may not have the backing of an expertise. What works for one person need not necessarily work for another person. This is particularly so for people who suffer from health conditions like diabetes or hypertension.

However, the greatest drawback of free weight loss programs is that they sometimes fail to evoke a sense of responsibility in the people who are following them. Even if the program has been structured well and it offers sane advice, you feel no obligation to follow it when you do not pay for it. That may sound amazing, but it has happened to me and I have seen it happening to others. To make your commitment and to strengthen your determination, you need to spend some money. That will make you serious about the whole thing.

If you are STILL on the lookout for a free weight loss program, take this 7-day free ecourse on weight loss. It has enough information for you to start losing weight naturally. And if you want to learn more, you can always upgrade!
